💉 Core Vaccines for Beagles
Veterinarians recommend a series of core vaccines to protect beagles (and all dogs) from serious and often fatal diseases. One of the first is the DHPP vaccine, which covers distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, and parainfluenza. Puppies typically begin this series at 6 to 8 weeks old, receiving boosters every 3 to 4 weeks until about 16 weeks of age. After the initial puppy series, this vaccine is usually given every 1 to 3 years depending on your vet’s protocol. Rabies is another essential vaccine and is required by law in most areas. Puppies receive their first rabies shot between 12 and 16 weeks, followed by a booster one year later, then typically every three years. In addition to these, many beagle owners opt for the Bordetella vaccine, which helps prevent kennel cough—especially important if your pup visits dog parks, daycare, groomers, or group meetups. This vaccine may be given every 6 to 12 months depending on exposure risk. Other optional but commonly recommended vaccines include Leptospirosis, Canine Influenza, and Lyme Disease, depending on your region and your beagle’s lifestyle. Always consult with your vet to create a vaccination plan tailored to your dog’s needs.
🧡 Healthy Beagle = Happy Beagle
Prevention, routine care, and informed decisions are the best ways to keep your beagle living a long, tail-wagging life. When in doubt, trust your vet—and never wait if something feels “off.”
